How to Manage Your Adrenaline Through the Holidays
With the holiday season upon us, I want to offer up some suggestions for making choices that allow you to enjoy the holidays instead of letting Adrenaline run them and create more stress. Adrenaline offers us a burst of energy in times when we feel a threat, but too much of it can cause havoc on us physically, emotionally and spiritually. Adrenaline keeps you from being present.
I know a lot of people are sad, alone and caught up in the cultural belief that it is a stressful time. The truth is, how you feel during the holidays is up to you. It is an opportunity to pay extra attention to what you need in order to experience more comfort, joy and ease.
If you are sad, be with your sadness and ask yourself what will help you feel nurtured during this time, then give yourself permission to feel nurtured. Are feeling overwhelmed and have the undercurrent of Adrenaline running through your system? How can you feel more balanced and at ease? How can you shift your behavior and thoughts to experience more joy? Perhaps you need to hold better boundaries and pay attention to the best way to take care of yourself during the holidays. Do you need to ask for support while cooking, purchasing presents, etc.? Do you need to do less shopping? What do you need to eliminate the stress and calm the Adrenaline?

It is so important to be sure you are taking time for you no matter what feelings the holidays bring up. The more you are in a place of feeling loved, the more that love overflows and benefits you and everyone else. The holidays are all about LOVE – it is a time to share your love, feel love and practice BEING love. Shifting your thoughts to what you are grateful for instead of what is bothering you is a great strategy to open your heart. Once you are residing in your heart, there is no room for anything else but what is most present in your heart.
